The Edmonton Eskimos have agreed to terms on a new contract with All-Star offensive lineman Patrick Kabongo.
The 30 year old native of Kinshasa, Zaire was Edmonton's nominee for the Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman and the Most Outstanding Canadian and had been scheduled to become a free agent on February 15, 2010.
''Patrick is a tower of strength both on and off the field. He works tirelessly to be a better player and gives generously of his time to improve the lives of others in our community,'' Eskimo general manager Danny Maciocia said.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the signing will reportedly make the 6'6, 315-pound Kabongo the highest paid offensive lineman in the Canadian Football League.
