Uganda Government News: RDC tells Ugandans not to panic over rebels
Ultimate Media
The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Mpigi district Katenda Luutu has asked the residents of Mpigi and the nearby districts not to panic over reports of the presence of rebels in the area. The RDC says the reports are not true.
The fears about the presence of rebels in Mpigi district were sparked off by reports that unknown people attack peoples’ houses at night and steal household property. Katenda says those are not rebels but thieves.
Mpigi boarders Mityana and Mubende districts in north, Wakiso in East, Masaka in the south and Sembabule in west.
The security agencies recently arrested a suspected ADF operative in Mpigi, whose identities were not disclosed to the public. Luutu says that the security in the district is on high alert and there is no need for panic and unrest amongst the public.
The ADF has been operating in South Western Uganda since its formation in 1995 by a faction of Ugandan Muslims led by Sheikh Jamil Mukulu.
