Increasing militia attacks in parts of Democratic Republic of Congo continue to beleaguer aid efforts while also enhancing the humanitarian crisis faced by refugees. The number of people displaced by conflict has risen from 30,000 to 105,000 in one year, dramatically escalating the need for humanitarian aid -- yet increasing the visibility of aid recipients as targets of militia violence.
